Joey + Rory If We Make It Through December

If we make it through December

Everything’s gonna be all right I know

It’s the coldest time of winter

And I shiver when I see the fallin’ snow

If we make it through December

I got plans of bein in a warmer town come summer time

Maybe even California

If we make it through December we’ll be fine

I got laid off down at the factory

And there timings not the greatest in the world

Heaven knows I been workin’ hard

I wanted Christmas to be right for daddy’s girl

Now I don’t mean to hate December

It’s meant to be the happy time of year

And why my little girl don’t understand

Why daddy can’t afford no Christmas here

If we make it through December

Everything’s gonna be alright I know

It’s the coldest time of winter

And I shiver when I see the fallin’ snow

If we make it through December

I got plans of bein’ in a warmer town come summer time

Maybe even California

If we make it through December we’ll be fine

Joey + Rory Rodeo

You broke his arm in Houston

His rib in Santa Fe

Then you drug him through the dirt in San Antone

And last year out in Vegas you almost took him all the way

Then you sent him broke and busted right back home

No matter how hard you throw him

He just gets back on again

Oh I’ll never understand this crazy hold you have on him

Rodeo, Rodeo

Are you every gonna let my cowboy go?

You’ve got a hundred other men

You don’t give a damn bout him

But he still loves you

Why? I don’t know

Rodeo, Rodeo

From an empty cold hotel room

In some state you left him in

He’ll call and tell me that this time he’s really through

I’ll get to hold him through the winter

But when spring rolls round again

He’ll jump in his truck and run right back to you

You steal his love away from me

8 Seconds at a time

Even when I’m in his arm I know your still on his mind

Rodeo, Rodeo

Are you every gonna let my cowboy go?

You’ve got a hundred other men

You don’t give a damn bout him

Oh But he still loves you

Why? I don’t know

Rodeo, Rodeo

If you were just another women

Maybe I’ll know what to do

He might give his heart to me

But he’d give his life for you

Rodeo

You’ve got a hundred other men

You don’t give a damn bout him

Oh But he still loves you

Why? I’ll never know

Rodeo, Rodeo

Joey + Rory Waiting For Someone

No, I don’t mind if you

Sit down if you want to

I’ll only be here few

I’m waitin’ for someone

Yes, I’m drinkin’ wine

One more would be just fine

To pass the time

While I’m waitin’ for someone

I guess he’s runnin’ late

Oh, I hate these blind dates

Waitin’ for someone

What’s that? No, not me

I’m still single and free

Someday I wanna be

I’m just waitin’ for someone

Yea, I like this song too

Why sure, I’ll dance with you

Just one or two

While I’m waitin’ for someone

Oh my, it’s getting late

I’ve been here since 8

Guess he’s not gonna show

Sometimes that’s how it goes

Waitin’ for someone

It’s really not that far

But you can walk me to my car

Now here we are

Waitin’ for someone

Yea, I’ve had a nice time too

Sure, I’d love to hear from you

You know? I think I’m through

Waitin’ for someone

‘Cause to tell you the truth

I was just waitin’ for someone like you

Joey + Rory Can You Duet

So you can play and sing and bend those strings

Like Urban, Brad and Chet

But can you… can you duet

And you can belt it loud and hold a crowd

Of drunks for one whole set

But can you… can you duet

Can you stand up in the spotlight

And sing sweet harmonies

With a million people watching

At home on CMT

Can you steal the show and get a standing “O”

From Naomi, Amy and Brett

Yeah, can you… can you duet

Who’s the next Montgomery Gentry, Judds or Big and Rich

Who can sing a song like Ronnie Dunn

Or run around a stage like Kix

Well keep tuning in

Cause just who wins is anybody’s bet

On can you… can you duet

Yeah, on can you… can you duet

Joey + Rory Cryin’ Smile

Got her daddy’s eyes and her mama’s hair

That newborn baby lyin’ there

A grandpa holds his first grandchild

That’s a cryin’ smile

In another town there’s a long white dress

Little church crammed full to Sunday best

Bride’s father walks her down the aisle

That’s a cryin’ smile

It’s a goodbye kiss, first day of school

A doctor callin’ with a good news

A sinner standin’ in the pure

Gettin’ born for the second time

It’s snapshots laid out on the floor

Or a loved one back home from the war

Makes tears fall like rain from a sunny sky

That’s a cryin’ smile

Forty years he punched that clock

For a pat on the back and a gold watch

They called it goin’ out in style

That’s a cryin’ smile

It’s a goodbye kiss, first day of school

A doctor callin’ with a good news

A sinner standin’ in the pure

Gettin’ born for the second time

It’s snapshots laid out on the floor

Or a loved one back home from the war

Makes tears fall like rain from a sunny sky

That’s a cryin’ smile

A nursin’ home has an empty bed

Four generations bow their heads

God welcomes home another child

Ain’t that a cryin’ smile?

Joey + Rory Heart Of The Wood

I think what made granddaddy great is that he didn’t work all day

I’d love the time we spent and I’d go everywhere he went

We’d end up on some old deer trail

And I’d listen hard as he would spin his tales

We were in a field of stumps he said I got a new one for you hon

These trees once stood tall and I’m the man that made them fall

I cut ’em up, sanded them down

And you wouldn’t believe what I found

Past the bark and all the scars

Our home was in the heart of those old trees

God bless who sowed those seeds

A hundred years and they just grew

And only heaven knew what they’d be, to our family

All that time to become what they should

You know Our home was in the heart of the wood

He smiled, said there’s my favorite one, pointed at a cherry stump

He said I couldn’t afford the one at Sears so the good lord planted one right here

He carved out what he saw within and he gave it to my dad when he turned ten

Past the bark and all the scars

There was a guitar in the heart of that old tree

All from just one seed

A hundred years and it just grew

And only heaven knew just what it’d be

And how that tree could sing

All the time to become what it should

There were songs in the heart of the wood

He said we can mark a tree to keep from getting lost

And it’ll always point our way home like that old rugged cross

A hundred years and it just grew and only heaven knew what it’d be

And who’d hang on that tree it held the Son of God like it should

But I know it broke the heart of the wood

I think what made granddaddy great was that he didn’t work all day

I’d love the time we spent

I’d go everywhere that old man went

Joey + Rory Hammerin’ Nails

My Daddy bought 5 acres

High up on a hill

And he went there every evening

When he got off at the mill

And he cleared the trees and brush away

And leveled out some land

Then he dug a hole and poured a slab

With his own workin’ hands

Then he showed me a picture

Of a big house in a book

And said “when we get her finished, son.

This is how she’s gonna look”

Then he buckled on his tool belt

And grabbed a 2 by 6

And said “you gotta frame a sturdy wall

Before you ever lay a brick”

He was hammerin’ nails

In our foundation

Building our home

Up good and strong

To stand the winds

Of life’s temptations

To build our house well

He was a hammerin’ nails

We worked with him on the weekends

Until our muscles hurt

Then mama’d come and get us

And take us all to church

She read us from the bible

About Noah and the flood

About John, and Paul, and Jesus

How he washed us in the blood

And she was hammerin’ nails

In our foundation

Building our home

Up good and strong

To stand the winds

Of life’s temptations

With every story she’d tell

She was a hammerin’ nails

Yeah they raised us well

By hammerin’ nails

Joey + Rory Take My Hand, Precious Lord

Precious Lord, take my hand

Lead me on, help me stand

I am tired,

I am weak,

I am worn

Through the storm, through the night

Lead me on to the light

Take my hand, precious Lord

Lead me home

When my way grows drear

Precious Lord, linger near

When my light is almost gone

Hear my cry, hear my call

Hold my hand, lest I fall

and take my hand precious Lord

Lead me home

When the darkness appears

And the night draws near

And the day is past and gone

At the river, I stand

Guide my feet, hold my hand

and take my hand precious Lord

Lead me home

Precious Lord, take my hand

Lead me on, help me stand

I am tired,

I am weak,

I am worn

Through the storm, through the night

Lead me on to the light

and take my hand precious Lord

Lead me home

Joey + Rory This Song’s For You

If you got up this morning

And you went to work today, this song’s for you

And if you put eight honest hours in

For eight hours worth of pay, this song’s for you

And if it’s taking all you got these days

Just to make ends meet

You’d like to give a piece of your mind

To those fat cats on Wall Street, this song’s for you

If you go to church on Sunday

And you try to do what’s right, this song’s for you

If you’ve been known to drink a beer

And raise hell on a Friday night, this song’s for you

If you wish we didn’t have to go

And send our boys to war

But you still think this country of ours

Is sure worth dying for

This song’s for you, you know who you are

We’re up on this stage but you’re the star

You’re why we do what we do

We want you to know, this song’s for you

Now if you love country music

As real as it comes, this song’s for you

And if you came here tonight

Hoping you might hear you some, this song’s for you

If you paid your hard earned money

To that bouncer at the door

To hear the kind of songs

That you don’t get to hear much anymore

This song’s for you, you know who you are

We’re up on this stage but you’re the star

You’re why we do what we do

We want you to know, this song’s for you

You might’ve lost a friend, a job

Or someone broke your heart

But just like you might need it to

The healing’s in the tune

This song’s for you, you know who you are

We’re up on this stage but you’re the star

You’re why we do what we do

We want you to know, this song’s for you

You deserve so much more, it’s true

We want you to know, this song’s for you

Joey + Rory That’s Important To Me

Not planning our day around a TV set

Paying our bills and staying out of debt

That’s important to me

That’s important to me

Opening the windows and letting in air

Holding hands when we’re saying a prayer

That’s important to me

Yeah, that’s important to me

Having somebody to share my life

Loving my husband and being a wife

And the very best mother I can be

That’s important to me

Telling the truth and being real

Feeding my family a home cooked meal

That’s important to me

That’s important to me

Planting a garden and watching it grow

Keeping it country on the radio

That’s important to me

Yeah, that’s important to me

Always having you to hold

Being beside you when we grow old

And they plant us ‘neath that big old tree

That’s important to me

Always having you to hold

Being beside you when we grow old

And they plant us ‘neath that big old tree

Believing our dreams will take us somewhere

Still being ourselves if we ever get there

That’s important to me

That’s important to me

Yeah, that’s important to me

That’s important to me

That’s important to me
