Michael Ray I’m Gonna Miss You

Most nights I can keep it buried in the back of my head

On most nights I can have a couple drinks, I can take of the edge

And then I don’t have to think about, try not to think about you

That’s what I do on most nights, but tonight

I’m gonna miss you, I let it hit me

I’m gonna sit here and wish you were with me

I’m gonna let that goodbye hurt me

I wanna feel it, no mercy

I reminisce you, I’m gonna go there

I know I shouldn’t, but right now I don’t care

‘Stead of spendin’ my night losin’ the fight, tryin’ to forget you

Baby I, I’m gonna miss you

Most nights I try to stay away from any memory

From this nights when you were still sleepin’, dreamin’ next to me

But I’m ’bout to put on continue and slow dance in this burnin’ room

I’m gonna miss you, I let it hit me

I’m gonna sit here and wish you were with me

I’m gonna let that goodbye hurt me

I wanna feel it, no mercy

I reminisce you, I’m gonna go there

I know I shouldn’t, but right now I don’t care

‘Stead of spendin’ my night losin’ the fight, tryin’ to forget you

Baby I, I’m gonna miss you

I’m gonna thing about Charleston, weekend Airbnb

And that Carolina heat had nothin’ on you and me

I’m gonna think about that first kiss in the rain, it was June

Remember how we said forever? I’m gonna think about that too

I’m gonna miss you, I let it hit me

I’m gonna sit here and wish you were with me

I’m gonna let that goodbye hurt me

I wanna feel it, no mercy

I reminisce you, I’m gonna go there

I know I shouldn’t, but right now I don’t care

‘Stead of spendin’ my night losin’ the fight, tryin’ to forget you

Baby I, I’m gonna miss you

I’m gonna miss you

Michael Ray Somewhere South

I think about blazing heat

I think about small talk

I think about the trash piling up in the back of a truck on cinder blocks

I think about lawn chairs

Watermelon on a paper plate

I think about tea in a pitcher on a porch that’s drowning in sugar cane

Oh I think I need to catch a plane

Somewhere south

Where when they open that smile

They smile, that long, slow drawl falls out

Where I can be me getting lost in a sea of a down home crowd

Oh, I gotta get back down, somewhere south

I think about stars and bars

I think about stubborn pride

And fighting over Fords and Chevy’s

A war damn eagle

Or a crimson tide

And I think about amazing grace

And I think about raising hell

How walking that line’s a bitch

Cause every momma’s gotta switch in the bible belt

Oh I think I need to find myself

Somewhere south

Where when they open that smile

They smile, that long, slow drawl falls out

Where I can be me getting lost in a sea of a down home crowd

Oh, I gotta get back down, somewhere south

Like kudzu on those pines my heart stays wrapped around

My roots my truth my boots, they miss their stomping grounds

Think they wanna run right now, somewhere south

I think about a pretty girl

Wearing my grandma’s ring

And I think about a baby boy

Carrying on my grandpa’s name

And I think I wanna plant that dream

Somewhere south

Somewhere south

Somewhere south

Michael Ray Kiss You In The Morning

Them jeans are faded

In all the right places

You got me hanging on tight to your curves like little E races

Girl your funky little back beat has got me

Feel like I’m tipsy

And I ain’t even had a drink

I wanna kiss you in the parking lot

Under the moonlight

Kiss you running red lights

Baby set the mood right

Just like everything you’re doing to me right now’s

Making me crazy

I wanna kiss you on the dance floor

Kiss you like a let’s go, come on

Baby let me hear you say oh, oh

I wanna kiss you with the neon lights in your eyes glowing

Then I wanna kiss you in the morning

Yeah I wanna kiss you in the morning

Oh you little outlaw

Stealing my heart and all

When you drop it down low

Touch your toes girl

You know you just show it off

That little tattoo on your tan line, oh my

Pretty little butterfly

What else have you got to hide?

I wanna kiss you in the parking lot

Under the moonlight

Kiss you running red lights

Baby set the mood right

Just like everything you’re doing to me right now’s

Making me crazy

I wanna kiss you on the dance floor

Kiss you like a let’s go, come on

Baby let me hear you say oh, oh

I wanna kiss you with the neon lights in your eyes glowing

Then I wanna kiss you in the morning

Yeah I wanna kiss you in the morning

I wanna kiss you in the parking lot

Under the moonlight

Kiss you running red lights

Baby set the mood right

Just like everything you’re doing to me right now’s

Making me crazy

I wanna kiss you on the dance floor

Kiss you like a let’s go, come on

Baby let me hear you say oh, oh

I wanna kiss you with the neon lights in your eyes glowing

Then I wanna kiss you in the morning

Yeah I wanna kiss you in the morning, morning

Yeah I wanna kiss you in the morning

Michael Ray You’re On

Moonlight shinin’ through the cypress trees

Bouncin’ off Stillwater’s runnin’ deep

If you wanna stay awake still the break of dawn, you’re on

If you wanna twist off the top on some apple pie

Crawl all over me like a kudzu vine

I’ll burn all night for you, don’t think I won’t, you’re on

You’re on ever country song dashboard station

Every shirt I got, your perfume ain’t fadin’

You’re on those empty beer cans in my truck bed

That’s your kiss, that’s your red that ain’t comin’ off

You’re on my mind, all the damn time

Girl you’re on your way to killin’ me tonight

I wanna be that lean in, close your eyes

Full moon high you’re on

You light me up when you run your fingers through my hair

Like a night owl’s eyes in the low beam glare

You’re never off, but tonight I swear

Yeah girl I swear

You’re on ever country song dashboard station

Every shirt I got, your perfume ain’t fadin’

You’re on those empty beer cans in my truck bed

That’s your kiss, that’s your red that ain’t comin’ off

You’re on my mind, all the damn time

Girl you’re on your way to killin’ me tonight

I wanna be that lean in, close your eyes

Full moon high you’re on

Like red mud clay on these grips

Like summer time on your lips

You’re on ever country song dashboard station

Every shirt I got, your perfume ain’t fadin’

You’re on those empty beer cans in my truck bed

That’s your kiss, that’s your red that ain’t comin’ off

You’re on my mind, all the damn time

Girl you’re on your way to killin’ me tonight

I wanna be that lean in, close your eyes

I wanna be that lean in, close your eyes

Full moon high you’re on

You’re on

Michael Ray Everything In Between

It’s always when the street lights are blinking red

It’s only when you’re the only thing in my head

I don’t know how you know but you know when I’m too far gone

It’s always right when I wanna do something wrong

I hate when you call but I answer again

Cause you don’t give a damn that it’s 2 am

‘Tween the baby I need you, I wanna be closer

The truth in the morning, the moment it’s over

It’s the moonlight and the rattle of you knocking on the door

I wind up breaking out a bottle, then it’s cotton on the floor

It’s the drinking, it’s the touching, it’s the lying, it’s the sting

It kills me when you leave, I hate how it starts, I hate how it ends

But I love everything, everything, everything in between

I’m always just a place where you can crash

All you leave is your lipstick on a glass

Yeah the middle of the night is never enough

But it’s enough to keep me hanging on

So I play along as long as you let me

I hate when you call but I answer again

Cause you don’t give a damn that it’s 2 am

‘Tween the baby I need you, I wanna be closer

The truth in the morning, the moment it’s over

It’s the moonlight and the rattle of you knocking on the door

I wind up breaking out a bottle, then it’s cotton on the floor

It’s the drinking, it’s the touching, it’s the lying, it’s the sting

It kills me when you leave, I hate how it starts, I hate how it ends

It kills me when you leave, I hate how it starts, I hate how it ends

Michael Ray Dancing Forever

Caught you wishin’ at the window last night

Wonderin’ if the moon was talkin’ back

I got a feelin’ that you got God’s ear, yeah

I know I feel like He’s closer when you’re here

It’s like you got a song in your head that nobody else knows

So just follow it baby wherever it goes

It’s gonna hurt to let you go, but baby go fly

So high, so high

I can watch you dancin’ forever

Turnin’ those stars into letters

Write your name in the sky

When you laugh, when you cry

Just catch that breeze like a feather

Turn your tears into treasures

When you’re here, when you’re gone

I’ll be here, lookin’ on

So keep on dancin’ forever

There’s somethin’ in the way you’re lookin’ right now

It’s tellin’ me my time is runnin’ out

I guess I’m waitin’ on your next move

All this time I thought I was leadin’ you

Now look at you

I can watch you dancin’ forever

Turnin’ those stars into letters

Write your name in the sky

When you laugh, when you cry

Just catch that breeze like a feather

Turn your tears into treasures

When you’re here, when you’re gone

I’ll be here, lookin’ on

So keep on dancin’ forever

Yeah keep on dancin’ forever

It’s like you got a song in your head that nobody else knows

So just follow it baby wherever it goes

It’s gonna hurt to let you go, but baby go fly

So high, so high

I can watch you dancin’ forever

Turnin’ those stars into letters

Write your name in the sky

When you laugh, when you cry

Just catch that breeze like a feather

Turn your tears into treasures

When you’re here, when you’re gone

I’ll be here, lookin’ on

So keep on dancin’ forever

Yeah keep on dancin’ forever

Michael Ray Drink One For Me

Somewhere in a small town there’s a bag gettin’ packed

In a bedroom at the far end of a gravel cul de sac

Someone ridin’ shotgun there’s some Army green fatigues

On a pin drop quiet drive with a tear in every seat

At that empty airport gate, there’s a soldier sayin’, “Hey”

“Drink one for me, on Friday night

Throw ’em back and laugh and tip the band I like

Drink one for me, and remember why

I’m doin’ what I’m doin’ when you raise ’em high

While I’m where I need to be, drink one for me”

Somewhere in the static in a half a world away

There’s a tired voice on the phone sayin’, “Everything’s okay”

“And if that weather holds up go load up that boat of mine

Head on out to Flat Rock point and drop a couple lines

The say I’ll get home soon, but ’til I do”

“Drink one for me, on Friday night

Throw ’em back and laugh and tip the band I like

Drink one for me, and remember why

I’m doin’ what I’m doin’ when you raise ’em high

While I’m where I need to be, drink one for me”

Somewhere there’s a crowded corner downtown bar tonight

With a bunch of ice cold amber bottles raised in the neon light

“Drink one for me, on Friday night

Throw ’em back and laugh and tip the band I like

Drink one for me, and remember why

I’m doin’ what I’m doin’ when you raise ’em high

While I’m where I need to be, drink one for me”

Yeah drink one for me

Drink one for me

Drink one for me

Michael Ray Kiss Her Back

Last night I saw her again

At a bar with a couple of friends

She was walking out, I was walking in

She gave me a hug and how you been

I told her I been doin’ fine

Said we outta catch up sometime

She said “call me” as she walked out side

And so I did

And here I am tonight, alone

Sitting by the phone

If I could get her to call me

There’s a pretty good chance

I can get her to meet me out

And have a drink

And I can get her to dance

And if I get her dancing, with me

I can get her to miss me

And if I can do that, I can get her to kiss me

And I can kiss her back

I remember how we use to be

When she couldn’t get enough of me

Drop her off and try to leave

But we end up making out ’til after 3 AM

And it would be like that again

If I could get her to call me

There’s a pretty good chance

I can get her to meet me out

And have a drink

And I can get her to dance

And if I get her dancing, with me

I can get her to miss me

And if I can do that, I can get her to kiss me

And I can kiss her back again the way it was

Back to when she was still in love

Cause right now I’d give anything for that phone to ring

If I can get her to call me

There’s a pretty good chance

I can get her to meet me out, we’ll have some drinks

I can get her to dance and if I get her dancing, with me

I can get her to miss me and if I can do that

I can get her to kiss me

And I can kiss her back

Michael Ray Wish I Was Here

Gimme me a boat, middle of may high of seventy-five

Gulf coast wind, reeling in something big on my line

Sunset dripping like a candle over the pier

And I’d wish I was here

Gimme a spot, barstool view, bulls eye up on the wall

Ring a smoke, anything goes, a quarter after last call

Halfway gone, petty song, all night long atmosphere

I’d wish I was here

Blue eyes all mine in my t-shirt

Sleepy head on my chest saying three words

Girl my greener grass is anywhere you’re at

By the time I hit the tracks on the edge of town

I’m shifting gears, hitting brakes, turning back around

I could kick up some dust on the road anywhere

But then again I’d just wish I was here

Give me gasoline, seventeen, Carolina coastline

Or that fight song, 4th and long under Friday night lights

Take me back to glory days, any place, any year

I’d wish I was here

Blue eyes all mine in my t-shirt

Sleepy head on my chest saying three words

Girl my greener grass is anywhere you’re at

By the time I hit the tracks on the edge of town

I’m shifting gears, hitting brakes, turning back around

I could kick up some dust on the road anywhere

But then again I’d just wish I was here

Gold street white lights when heaven says it’s my turn

Calls me home, all I know, if I got to go first

Blue eyes all mine in my t-shirt

Sleepy head on my chest saying three words

Girl my greener grass is anywhere you’re at

By the time I hit the tracks on the edge of town

I’m shifting gears, hitting brakes, turning back around

I could kick up some dust on the road anywhere

But then again I’d just wish I was here

Michael Ray Girl From Spring Break

She pulled up in a Mustang

With Alabama license plates

Blarin’ old school “Purple Rain”

A little buzz helped me get her name

She was two rooms down from mine

And we turned room 309

Into a party every single night

Until the week ran out and we said goodbye

Now I wonder what that girl from spring break’s doin’ now

Is she back in Alabama, two kids and a house?

Or did she move to Cali like she said she was gonna?

Underneath the peer on a beach in Daytona?

I wonder if she smiles when she looks at the tattoo we got that night

‘Cause God knows I do every now and then, catch myself thinkin’ about

What the girl from spring break’s doin’ now

We smoked Swishers on the balcony

And every kiss tasted just as sweet

We drank southern comfort

Straight out of the bottle

Got a little sand up in the sheets

Now I wonder what that girl from spring break’s doin’ now

Is she back in Alabama, two kids and a house?

Or did she move to Cali like she said she was gonna?

Underneath the peer on a beach in Daytona?

I wonder if she smiles when she looks at the tattoo we got that night

‘Cause God knows I do every now and then, catch myself thinkin’ about

What the girl from spring break’s doin’ now

We said we’d call, we said we’d write

But you know how it goes when time goes by

Now I wonder what that girl from spring break’s doin’ now

Is she back in Alabama, two kids and a house?

Or moved to Cali like she said she was gonna?

Underneath the peer on a beach in Daytona?

I wonder if she smiles when she looks at the tattoo we got that night

‘Cause God knows I do every now and then, catch myself thinkin’ about

What that girl from spring break’s doin’ now

I wonder what she’s doin’ now

Is she back in Alabama?

Or on the coast of California?

I wonder what she’s doin’ now
