Parmalee Savannah

Everybody’s got that girl, you know the one that got away

I really don’t know why but I was thinking ’bout her today

I loved the way she’d say Georgia

With that sweet little southern drawl

And how she whispered “baby”

As the mossy oak shadows would fall

If whiskey was a time machine, I would try to drink her back to me

There are highways and byways

Running east, west, north, and south

And you can sail into the harbor, see the planes touching down

But I burned up every bridge

Just like Sherman did coming down from Atlanta

And I know there ain’t no way back to Savannah, no, no, oh, woah

Yeah, I had some big city dreams, headed out on my own

To the bright lights and the neon sky, left her there all alone

This photograph is the only map as a memory disappears

And the truth is you can’t get there from here

‘Cause there are highways and byways

Running east, west, north, and south

And you can sail into the harbor, see the planes touching down

But I burned up every bridge

Just like Sherman did coming down from Atlanta

And I know there ain’t no way back to Savannah, no, no, oh, woah

Yeah

If whiskey was a time machine I would try to drink her back to me

‘Cause there are highways and byways

Running east, west, north, and south

And you can sail into the harbor, see the planes touching down

But I burned up every bridge

Just like Sherman did coming down from Atlanta

And I know there ain’t no way back to Savannah

No, no, no, oh, woah

No, no, no, oh, woah

Everybody’s got that girl, I’ve got mine in black and white

I really don’t know why but I’m calling her tonight

Parmalee Heartbreaker

She makes the ice melt before she ever takes a sip

Yeah, you can feel the heat when she walks by

Makes a five alarm fire look like a dollar store lighter flame, yeah

She’ll skip the needle on the groove with the way she moves

Make you drop a beat when she starts to dance

And if she takes you by the hand

You know it’s only gonna end one way, her way

And all the boys light up like a left-hand high

Got ’em buying her drinks on a Saturday night

No ninety proof Kentucky gonna let ’em get lucky tonight

She’s gonna turn ’em all on when she’s doing her thing

Yeah, she’ll wind ’em all up just to cut them strings

She’s a little heartbreaker

But that little heartbreaker’s mine, mine, mine, mine, mine

She makes a grown man fall down to his knees

Begging baby please for just one hit

Of that heaven on her lips

Tripping for a kiss that’s walking away, ay, ay, ay, ayyy

And all the boys light up like a left-hand high

Got ’em buying her drinks on a Saturday night

No ninety proof Kentucky gonna let ’em get lucky tonight

She’s gonna turn ’em all on when she’s doing her thing

Yeah, she’ll wind ’em all up just to cut them strings

She’s a little heartbreaker

But that little heartbreaker’s mine, mine, mine, mine, mine

And all the boys light up (boys light up)

On a Saturday night (Saturday night)

For a little heartbreaker

That little heartbreaker

All the boys light up like a left-hand high

Got ’em buying her drinks on a Saturday night

No ninety proof Kentucky gonna let ’em get lucky tonight

She’s gonna turn ’em all on when she’s doing her thing

Yeah, she’ll wind ’em all up just to cut them strings

She’s a little heartbreaker

But that little heartbreaker’s mine, mine, mine, mine, mine

Parmalee Already Callin’ You Mine

I barely know you, you barely know me,

We ain’t but two slow dances into this thing.

Come one and sit down, I’ll order us a round.

I want to know everything. Girl, where’s your hometown?

Are those your momma’s eyes?

What are you doing for the rest of your life?

Cause I’m already thinking bout you and me getting out of here and taking a drive.

Just slide a little closer, put your head on my shoulder like this ain’t our first time.

Girl, don’t worry bout holdin’ on tight cause I’m already calling, I’m already calling you mine.

Whoa, whoa.

I know that there’s a chance,

I’m thinking too fast. Tell me, tell me am I right or am I reading this wrong?

They’ll play the last song, the lights will come on, that don’t mean we can’t take the long way home, home, home.

Cause I’m already thinking bout you and me getting out of here and taking a drive.

Just slide a little closer, put your head on my shoulder like this ain’t our first time.

Girl, don’t worry bout holdin’ on tight cause I’m already calling, I’m already calling you mine.

If you like the way that sounds, we can leave this place right now, right now.

Cause I’m already thinking bout you and me getting out of here and taking a drive.

Just slide a little closer, put your head on my shoulder like this ain’t our first time.

Girl, don’t worry bout holding on tight cause I’m already calling, I’m already calling you mine.

Whoa, whoa. I’m already calling you mine. Whoa, whoa.

Parmalee Another Day Gone

I screwed up seven summers in one afternoon gone wrong. What started out like Amazing Grace ended like a Springsteen song. All she wanted was a little less reckless, all she needed was some settle down, but all she got was a second-hand Chevy with a peddle to the metal headed out of town.

God knows a straightened arrow don’t think much of guys like me. Live like there’s no tomorrow, looks like there’s going to be. I’m going to see if I can’t right a couple wrongs, before I wake up with another day gone.

I missed her singing lasted Sunday, I showed up a hair too late. Back slothering the back road with a heavy heart and a headache. It’s just a couple miles from my house, I don’t go a lot cause it’s just a million miles from the back road to that church parking lot.

God knows a straightened arrow don’t think much of guys like me. Live like there’s no tomorrow, looks like there’s going to be. I’m going to see if I can’t right a couple wrongs, before I wake up with another day gone.

Got a lot of pride to swallow, got a lot of here to feel. I know God will forgive me but who knows if she will.

I’m going to see if I can’t right a couple wrongs. Yeah, I’m going to see if I can’t right a couple wrongs, before I wake up with another day gone.

I want to hear her angel voice singing a Sunday song before I wake up with another day gone.

Parmalee Think You Oughta Know That

When things get tough you just walk away, say you don’t wanna leave but you ain’t gonna stay if things are gonna stay like they been going lately, baby. But I don’t know what you need to hear. I try to keep you near. I dry up all your tears. I tell you that I love you, want you. What more can a man do?

Baby stay, lay back down in our bed. Try like hell to get back what we’ve been missing lately. Through good and bad I’ve been here and I ain’t going nowhere. Baby you should know that, by now you oughta know that.

I ain’t the kind to love just cause it’s easy, run when it gets harder, stay because I’m lonely. It kills me you don’t know me. If only you could see inside me…

…you would stay, lay back down in our bed. Try like hell to get back what we’ve been missing lately. Through good and bad I’ve been here and I ain’t going nowhere. Baby you should know that, I think you oughta know that.

Baby stay, lay back down in our bed. Try like hell to get back what we’ve been missing lately. Through good and bad I’ve been here and I ain’t going nowhere. Baby you should know that, I think you oughta know that.

Parmalee Musta Had A Good Time

Hey, y’all, is that my dog up on the roof?

And, good God, why’s my car out in the pool?

All I ‘member was a phone call, now the party’s on

Somebody knockin’ at my door

And I don’t know what the hell went on round here last night…

Now I’m picking up beer cans, what a mess,

Oh Man, who’s that passed out in the yard?

All that’s left in the fire pit’s one of my lawn chairs

And a piece of siding off my barn

Somebody doin donuts musta hit the mailbox

Cause it’s laying out there in the road

There’s a flood in the bathroom

A hog in kitchen, a dude on my couch with a bloody nose

And I don’t know what the hell went on round here last night,

But we musta had a good time

Hey y’all why’s my bed not in my room?

And, good God, how did my face get black and blue?

All I remember was a bring it on, a pour it strong,

And the girls all getting down!

Now I’m picking up beer cans, what a mess, Oh Man,

Who’s that passed out in the yard?

All that’s left in the fire pit’s one of my lawn chairs

And a piece of siding off my barn

I guess we used the table top for a game of beer pong

And the back porch for a dance floor

Somebody took a shower rod, turned into a strip pole

Man, there’s a hole punched through my door!

Now I don’t know what the hell went on round here last night,

But we musta had a good time!

I sure could use a cold one, right about now…

Cause I’m picking up beer cans,

Oh Man, somebody’s passed out in the yard?

All that’s left in the fire pit’s one of my lawn chairs

And a piece of siding off my barn

Somebody doin donuts musta hit the mailbox

Cause it’s laying out there in the road

There’s a flood in the bathroom

A hog in kitchen, a dude on my couch with a bloody nose

I guess we used the table top for a game of beer pong

And the back porch for a dance floor

Somebody took a shower rod, turned into a strip pole

Man, there’s a hole punched through my door!

I don’t know what the hell went on round here last night

I don’t know what the hell went on round here last night

But, we musta had a good time!

Heh, heh, heh… yeah we musta had a good time!

We SHORE had a good time!

We always have a good time!

Parmalee Roots

I’m still running 33’s up underneath this truck

Even though rush hour concrete is the only place I’m getting stuck

Ain’t on the farm no more but on a stretch of sunny days

I still catch myself looking up at the sky

Praying for a little rain

No I can’t outrun these roots

Even if I wanted to

Cause they run too strong, run too deep

Cutting right through the heart of me

No it don’t matter where I plant these boots

Can’t outrun these roots

I can’t outrun these roots

There’s still that back-home part of me, that can’t help but see things a little different

Like how there ain’t no need to put a ‘G’ on the end of huntin’ or fishin’

And I still got granddaddy’s bible, his old rifle and his name

But I also got his pour a little more

Coarsin’ through my veins

No I can’t outrun these roots

Even if I wanted to

Cause they run too strong, run too deep

Cutting right through the heart of me

No it don’t matter where I plant these boots

I can’t outrun these roots

Thank God I can’t

They’re tangled up in every part of who I am

Without ’em I know I don’t stand a chance

I can’t outrun these roots

I can’t outrun these roots

Cause they run too strong, run too deep

Cutting right through the heart of me

No it don’t matter where I plant these boots

Can’t outrun these roots

I can’t outrun these roots

Parmalee Like A Photograph

I see you and him in the corner

Talking to a couple of friends but he don’t laugh when you laugh

Turn every head when you walk in

You light up this whole room he ain’t got a clue

What he’s about to lose

You got that fire but he don’t say a thing

You’re like sunshine but he’s all rain

So damn tired of watching him watch you fade

I could put a new taste on your lips

Melt your heart with my fingertips

Give you the kind of love that puts him in the past

Burn this memory like a photograph

I watch him walk to the cooler and walk him grab a cold one just one

And walk outside talk on his phone and just stay gone all night long

If it was me that was on your hand girl

You know I’d never let it go

Cause I know what he don’t

He can’t see nothing but I see smoke

You got that fire but he don’t say a thing

You’re like sunshine but he’s all rain

So damn tired of watching him watch you fade

I could put a new taste on your lips

Melt your heart with my fingertips

Give you the kind of love that puts him in the past

Burn this memory like a photograph

You got that fire and I want to test that flame

I could put a new taste on your lips

Melt your heart with my fingertips

Give you the kind of love that puts him in the past

Burn this memory like a photograph

I could put a new taste on your lips

Melt your heart with my fingertips

Give you the kind of love that puts him in the past

Burn this memory like a photograph

Parmalee Barrel Of A Shot Glass

Here we are, so where do we go from here?

Should’ve known what I said

Would’ve brought us to the end of a dead end street

I know those eyes, I’ve seen those tears

You probably thinking that I’m leaving

And I’m looking for a reason just to find me somewhere

Staring down the barrel of a shot glass

Wondering how I’m ever gonna get you back

But I ain’t falling in the same trap like I always do

I ain’t leaving here tearing down the highway

How I did you wrong running on replay

No, I ain’t drowning in the same past

Staring down the barrel of a shot glass

It ain’t easy, so please believe me

When I tell you I’m a different man

I need for you to understand I’m trying to do the right thing

Let me hold you, let me show you

All that I can do is do everything to prove I’m not who I used to be

Staring down the barrel of a shot glass

Wondering how I’m ever gonna get you back

But I ain’t falling in the same trap like I always do

I ain’t leaving here tearing down the highway

How I did you wrong running on replay

No, I ain’t drowning in the same past

Staring down the barrel of a shot glass

And by now I’d be too away from gone

And you’d be one foot out the door

But I ain’t doing that anymore

Staring down the barrel of a shot glass

Wondering how I’m ever gonna get you back

But I ain’t falling in the same trap like I always do

I ain’t leaving here tearing down the highway

How I did you wrong running on replay

No, I ain’t drowning in the same past

Staring down the barrel of a shot glass

No, I ain’t drowning in the same past

Staring down the barrel of a shot glass
